Default iPod resetting to first song periodically for no reason (in S5 model)

My 2009 S5 has the iPod integration to the MMI. Most of the time, the iPod resumes playing from where it left off when I turn the car on. Other times, the iPod resets to the very first song in the music library when I turn the car on. I am using a 4th gen iPod. Has anyone experienced this issue and found resolution?

Default it's probably because the iPod has drained it's battery while the vehicle is off and then when you

start the car the iPod is turning back on like a hard reset. This happens to me too with my Jetta. I think both the Audi AMI and VW iPod adapters do not TURN OFF the ipod when the car turns off, it only stops playback of the song.

I know this sucks.

Your comments made good sense. Thanks. I checked the iPod in the glove box and its battery indicates its receiving power even with the car turned off (the battery life indicator was pulsating). Interestingly, the iPod's screen shows its in "pause" mode suggesting it should resume from the last play (which it does most of the time). I think something else is responsible for the periodic hard reset type of action.

Default the ipod will get power for a period of time after the car has been turned off but

when all the modules go to sleep I bet it's getting power again. A good way to check it is in the morning check to see if it's dead before you start the car. The AMI does pause the screen but it doesn't send a signal to "turn off" the ipod. I'm pretty sure of this because I've experienced this in an S5 I had for a couple of days.

you are right. battery must be getting drained. went away on business trip and didn't drive car for several days. upon start up, the ipod reset to first song in library.
