Default lightweight 8" subwoofer for listening to classic rock, primarily?

I'm looking for a lightweight 8" subwoofer for listening to classic rock, primarily, any suggestions?

2-300 budget, new or used

Default MTX. Audiophiles will rip me a new one, but good for price

and the amount of bas you'll want for classic rock. A few years ago I paid about $250 for a MTX 10", real nice ported box and small amp. I still think its sufficient. That and I couldn't get anything bigger in my GTi trunk.

Default The only MTX subs I've heard with 12" and bigger, definately not suited to my music.

I just don't want something boomy...

A JL 8W7 fits in my price range, but I hear it is pretty heavy...it's going in a stripped out A2 GTI, so I don't want to add a lot of weight that I already took out.

So use a 8" in a sealed box.

Default I don't believe MTX has any 8" woofer options this year.

I worked for the company up until June, and at that time they were closing out last years T5508.

I've heard the JL 8W7 and was very impressed. If you are going to add weight for the enclosure, wiring, and amplifier, make sure the woofer is worth it.
