Default Looking for West L.A. shop for iPod integration

Can anyone suggest a shop in the West L.A./Santa Monica area to do an iPod integration in an allroad? I want to do a Dice/Icelink-style install with a dash mount. I looked in the archive and didn't find anything definitive. Thanks!

Default give us more details...PLA-ease. :)

what year ar do have?
what else is installed in your allroad (aftermarket HU, oem SAT radio etc..etc)?

in 99% of the cases, this is a case of plugging in a DICE unit behind your OEM HU.

If you use the search function, you can find links to how other A6/allroad users have installed their ipods in the dash...etc...etc.

Good luck!

Default More details

I have a 2004 allroad with factory XM and factory nav (not Nav+). I've done a ton of searches on Audiworld and learned a lot--thanks to many of your posts, too!

I just spoke with John at Enfig, who was super helpful and friendly. I ordered a Dice, Dice cradle, Panavise mount, radio removal tool and Sat Pass 1 cable from them and should get them next week. I decided to try to install it all myself. I'm guessing that I'll be able to do it all myself except for maybe running the XM cable from the head unit to the XM unit in the back of the car. For that I might want to have a shop do it.

If anyone can recommend a shop or even someone in West L.A. who can help with this if I need it, that'd be great.

Teddy: thanks for all your great messages on the board about iPod integration. They were super helpful.

Default cool. some thoughts...

When you start plugging in the DICE and other connectors from enfig behind your sym II...it will make it very hard to push your sym II back in place.

I have been building the same kind of harnesses for lots of B6 and C5 guys to do the exact same thing.

Running the wiring to the trunk isn't that bad. Hardest part is the removal of the rear side bolster requires a 17MM offset boxed wrench (works better than a longer socket).

Drop me an email if you need anything else.

Default Help with running cable from headunit to trunk

Do you know if there are instructions or pictures on the Web as to exactly where is the best place to run the cable, and how to tuck it under places, remove the rear bolster, etc.? (I did an Audiworld search but didn't find anything.) I'd like to attempt it myself, but would like to find helpful references on the Web first before doing it blindly. (I've never removed parts of the car before!

For anyone looking to order a Dice for an allroad, here's what I ordered from Enfig:

1 42nd Draft Designs 42-002 42ND_42_002 $11.99 $11.99 (radio removal tool)

1 Dice Electronics i-Audi-R DICE_I_AUDI_R $144.99 $144.99

1 Dice Electronics iPod Cradle DICE_CRADEL $53.99 $53.99

1 Panavise 75102-600 PANAVISE_75102_600 $21.99 $21.99 (metal bracket to mount the cradle on)

1 Enfig AUDI SAT PASS 1 ENFIG_AUDI_SAT_PASS_1 $49.99 $49.99

(cable that's necessary if you want to keep your XM and have access to the iPod at the same time)

Subtotal $282.95
Shipping: FedEx Ground $9.92
Tax Total: No Tax (0.00%) $0.00
Total $292.87
