MarkP, do you have to remove this entire cage to mount a single din head unit?

Default MarkP, do you have to remove this entire cage to mount a single din head unit?

I plan to have gauges on top. My question is do I have to remove the whole cage to get my single din sleeve in place? If so, what has to come out besides the hvac control and the ashtray?

Default Well, the issues are like this....

there is another cage that the symphony slides into. At points, it is too narrow for a standard DIN replacement. I removed this cage. Now, the next cage (the one you posted) is a little to wide. This is where I had to make a 1/8" plexi frame around my unit and then glue it in place

Even with this, I had to file down some of the inner edges. See where the aluminum shows through on the lower right and left of the large opening.

Once you have the stereo, HVAC, ash tray out, anything else is easy to take apart.
