I've got a friend who works for Monster Cable and can get a BIG discount on stuff. Any recommendations on what I should have her get me? I'm not that knowledagable with their products. Basically, I'd like to upgrade my home audio (Sony TV, DVD & VHS player) & car audio cables I just upgraded my stock speakers to Infinity Kappas, kept the head unit for now. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

How BIG is the discount? Get whatever is the highest level of product for what you can afford?

Monster cables lowest cable is still a good cable, but their most expensive cables are just overpriced. Anything from 2 steps above the lowest is more then adequate. Spending 100's on cabling is not worth the money unless your buying truly high end custom cables from someone like Synergy or Kimber Kable, and even then, it's debatable if they are worth all that money.

So pick a price youd like to spend total and figure out what cables you need and what level will meet that total price.

I buy Acoustic Research Pro series which is great cable. A 3ft pair of Audi/Video runs about $23 online. That's 1 pair of Left/Right and 1 Video cable (separate from the Left/Right audio cable). It's a good thickness, uses solid gold connectors that keep their tension (some connectors loosen up and become useless after this occurs).

I can't see myself psending more then $50 for 3ft of audio/video cable pairs.
