Newbie Bose update and question ...
Ok ... so I've decided the Bose sucks, IMHO. Last night I tried my portable minidisc player with a cassette adapter and, using it's equalizer presets, was able to get very acceptable sound out of the thing. So I tried my portable cd player, and using it's presets, same result ... very listenable.
My question ... (since the HU hidden equalizer no longer exists) is there a way to insert an in-line equalizer between the HU and the Bose amp line inputs? Once set-up, I'd think I'd be pretty happy (it could be buried in the trunk) and could forego new amps, speakers, etc. I'm really afraid of the squeal and rattle risk of taking the doors apart, etc. ... let alone the add'l expense.
Any advise appreciated!

Nope not possible.
If the system ran on RCA's you could get an EQ between the deck and the speakers but its not. Unless you wanted to convert line level (speaker out) to rca, run it through and EQ then convert back to line level and into the amp.
I am kidding ... that is a terrible idea, but that is the kind of thing that you would have to do.
