Default Noob 2004 S4 xm question...

Not much luck with search feature, so here goes;

I have the standard symphony II radio in my new B6 S4. My dealer told me it's "satellite ready." What is my best option to upgrade to xm? Can I do it my self?

Thanks for the advise.

Default I did this yesterday. Look at the thread seven doors down . . .

4 bolts, 4 plugs (plus maybe one more).

Look in the left rear trunk well. Beneath the jack, tied to the wall are four plugs (two color coded and two flat blade).

You need to buy the OEM XM module (part# 8E0-057-593-A) from your Audi parts store (or clairesparts.com).

It's about $420 with tax. That's a premium over aftermarket brands, but you have the benefit of integrated SAT conrols, plus 15 presets.

Look at the thread below for answers on the possible pink wire problem.

Good luck to you.

Default Thanks...

I have to get my eyes checked. I'll have some time this weekend to check out the trunk for those harnesses. Thanks for the info!

Default A few more questions...

Once you buy the reciever, does it come with info on how to subscribe to the service, or is this done another way?

Also the reciever # was listed under the A6 category on the clairparts site. Am I safe in assuming it would work in my S4?

Default The box only contained the receiver.

You need to go to xmradio.com to sign up and activate the radio service. It's pretty easy reading.

I'm guessing the wire harness is exactly the same, but I won't have pics before the weekend.

Let me describe the wires to you and see if they are the same:
Two round antenna plugs (one green , one brown)
One fat blade connector (~3/4" wide) with 2x4 pins (only red and brown wires connected).
One thin blade connector (~1" wide) with 1x8 pins and only five wires (orangebrown, orangegreen, blue, white, purple) connected.
