That is all!

The system is for an Audi TT Coupe and will probably include a 5ch amp, a 12" sub, 6,5" components front speakers and 6,5" rear coaxials. I didn't mention any coaxials as they depend on the choice of the fronts and will be similar to them.

Any comment is welcome or if you have any other suggestions. Thanks in advance for every reply...

P.S. I know there are many other products superior to these, but I'm trying to keep the cost at a reasonable level as much as I can.

Default What is your budget? And..

What type of music do you listen to? Would help to decide on components, whether you want something very accurate and dynamic, which would lean more towards a metal dome tweeter like the focals. Or smoother, more laidback... softer tweeters, which would probably be better for Jazz, R&B, female vocals.. to generalize.
I would ditch the rear fill as well. Will allow you to get a much more powerful four channel amp, or a nice two channel and a sub amp. Not to mention free up some of what you had set aside for that. Rear fill is not needed at all, especially in the TT. I don't use any in the A4 and the stage is perfect, which wouldn't be possible with rear fill. With components and a strong amp it will be able to get louder than you can handle.

Default I would probably go with the Directed amp...

It has the most power output capability in the sub channel and the price is pretty good for what you get. The Audison would be my second choice because of their reputation for quality but they are also $$$ so that's why it is a second choice. As far as speakers, I never pick speakers by looking at specs. The only way to tell is by actually listening to them. Good sound is bery subjective so what someone says is good might not be so hot to someone else.

Default Re: What is your budget? And..

Well, since I'm in Europe my budget lies around 1000 - 1300 euros, if that gives you any information. The system will certainly include a 12" sub (big enough to pass the bass into the cabin), front components, rear co-axials and a 5ch. amp so as to keep the setup plain. And I don't have any plans on upgrading after that, so a powerful 5ch would do the trick.

I don't understand what you mean by "rear fill" though... Do you mean filling the rear panels with speakers?

And thanks for the tip, I really didn't know that a metal dome tweeter provides a more dynamic sound... And yes, that's what I'm looking for, accurate and dynamic just like you said it. Actually, I don't listen to R&B or similar kinds of music, but more to dance, pop with loud vocals, which demand a more dynamic and clear audio system, right? So, for my personal necessities the focals have to be a better match according to that... Hmm. Thanks a lot.

Default By rear fill, I mean the rear coax speakers...

By having music come from behind you, it will draw the soundstage, which is where you perceive the music to be, rearward.. instead of being out in front of you where it should be. Such as with a home stereo, or concert. By using only front speakers, you will have the best soundstage and imaging.
With this set-up, you could use a nice 4x100 or 4x125 amp, costing the same or less than any 5-6 channel, giving you 100w(125) each to the front speakers, and 400w(500) to the sub.

Default Strange theory...

I thought that the sound from behind was a must and it served the purpose of providing more complete and full overall sound (as does the sub)... After all, you can always adjust the fader and give the fronts more power than the rears.

Default Re: I would probably go with the Directed amp...

Thanks, although I thought that the Beyma amp was the more powerful with 1x200 for the sub and 4x75... I am seriously thinking of the Audison too, their quality is pretty high.

Default The sub is a must..

because it provides the range of sub-bass, 80 hz and lower, that cannot be adequately had with components. In competition SQ cars, they do find places in front of the driver and passenger for the sub so that the bass is in front of you, as well as using only front speakers. If you manage to frequent some local shops, and are able to audition different components, see if there are any cars you can listen to with just front components. The sound can be every bit as good as a nice home system. Of course, it does come down to the individuals tastes, but just trying to lend from my experience, and what I prefer.

Default What about your headunit? And don't get a 5 channel...

and you don't need a 12" necessarily.

Default Keep the rear fill.. and yes.. I do have a TT....

I'd say keep it. I've run them both ways, and though, yes, for competition, it's better to only run the front for imaging... the TT sounds better IMO with "some" rear fill.
