question about rear deck sub install? (long)
#11
almost...
In my application, I'm mounting two subs infinite-baffle under the rear deck, attached to a wood baffle. Not much room sacrificed there. The subs line up, speaker-side pointing at the hole where the rear speakers used to be.
Another option is to mount shallow subs on TOP of the rear shelf. Maybe you can fit a small magnet down through the hole, maybe not. Then you can custom fab a new rear decklid cover, and just have it stick up further. Not stealth, but an option.
Firing down, with magnet facing the rear deck, in a sealed enclosure isn't going to help your current situation any.

your custom box sounds like the design of my JL stealthbox
I just hope your putting bigger than a 8" and making it worth the effort.
philly kid,
I would not go to the effort to mount the subs under the rear deck. i'll suggest again that your get the best bang for the effort if you move the rear speakers to the doors and just let the bass enter through the rear deck holes.

thats not an option b/c i dont have bose so there is no speakers in rear doors, that would cause to cut holes in door panel which i am not willing to do

Re: what size woofers are you using?
Probably the Human Speaker's Pro 005 8" woofer.

http://www.humanspeakers.com/diy/parts/005.htm
