Question on a stereo...

I have a 2001 s4 no bose, and I was looking to get an upgrade. I got an estimate of 3200 dollars!!! How much should an xtant amp and focals really cost?? Just replacing the stock speakers at all locations. Anyone know of a better setup and where to get?

Well.... $3200 for what? Focal and xtant are very good brands.. so it makes some sense that its alot of $$. I live in the SM area also - and i went to Automotive entertainment - its on 15th and wilshire - is in the middle of the block, across from jack in the box. they are cool guys, they do alot of audis - they also have another store in passadena, which i think is a nicer facility. They did the a4 in the last issue if car stereo mag. they carry both focal and xtant ... and are pretty decent in terms of pricing.

To get the best price you should buy everything online.. you will save alot of $$ -- but then you got install cost. and if you want some crazy install it will cost you . (especially on the westside

) just my experience.

Check Ebay; Focals are like $300/pair for 5.25". Installation will cost, but there's no need to pay retail prices. Beware though - buying online you won't get the manufacturer's warranty in all likelihood.
