Default suggestions on an amplifier to power a JL w7 13" dual 1.5 ohm

I am wondering what amplifer to get to power a JL w7 13" subwoofer. It is rated at 1000W RMS. The voic coils are dual 1.5 ohm meaning i could run it at 3 ohms or 0.75 ohms, both are wierd ratings. The JL 1000/1 would be the perfect match, but this is way out of my budget. I was looking at the JBL powervalve 1200.1, also the rockford fosgate BD1500, the MTX 8100D, a JL 500/1 but I don't know if this has enough power to drive the W7? Xtant 1001dx, Directed 1200.1, SS autotek 1500W, Audiobahn A18001DQ. My max spending on the amp is $400 on ebay. What are your suggestions.

Also what size power cap would i need?

jbl. Cheap, reliable, strong and it should make around 900 watts at 3 ohm.

Default If you are not going to take the sub to it's full potential ....

.... which is about 1500 - 1800 watts, then you are wasting money in buying the sub. $400 is not going to buy a decent amp that will drive the sub to it's maximum potential. You might as well just buy a 10w7 and put a JL 500/1 on it. Believe me, that will be more bass than you will ever need.

Default What other things would I need

I have bought a zero gauge voodoo cabling kit with digital fuse box etc. I am running a symphony II head unit and am about to purchase the blaupunkt adaptor for it, what is the preout Voltage on those things. I am looking at capacitors what size would I need and which companies are best to get. Also i think i will need some kind of crossover that would take the 4 rca inputs and give me 6 rca outputs as 2 rca's will go to the sub and 4 to the 4 channel amp any recommendations? i have found an audiobahn unit

Default Wondering if there are amps to run it at 0.75 ohms, also pheonix gold make a 1200W rms at 4 ohms ?

Will this run a 3 ohm load at around 1200 W rms? or will it not be able to handle a 3 ohm load

Also can i use a monobloc amp to run a 0.75 ohm load? E.g. the rockford BD1500?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3038037581&cat egory=18797</a

Default I would guess this amp would output 1300 watts at 3 ohms ... it is stable down to 2 ohms ...

I would suggest a 1 - 2 farad cap for this amp.

Default run a 500/1 to it and u will have problems

dont go cheap u just spent good money on a nice sub, now why would you go cheap on the amp...if u acnt afford anything decent now then just dont do anything at all and save up til u can. Im feeding around a clean 1200 watts RMS from my Zapco amps to each of my 12" W7's, and it feels like it wants mroe power, so anything less to a 13" i dunno. If u have any questions hit me up on AIM "BoostTed"

Default I just bought a JL 500/1 just now, what kind of problems are you talking about?

Just got one on ebay for 360$ should put about 600W rms into the sub? By the way how heavy is the jl w7 and how heavy is the 500/1. Also what box are you running your jl'z in?
