Default What's a good 5-channel amp? and why can I not find a Sony XM Tuner module anywhere?

For the amp, I am not looking for a high-end unit, just one good enough to power 4 2-way speakers and one 12" comp VR kicker sub.

also, i am in the market for a sony xm tuner module for a sony HU (MP40). i checked on crutchfield and several other sources and they are somewhat hard to find. are there other places?

some price info would be nice too.

thanks!

well jl makes a good one, soundstream makes some nice ones, hifonics does too, check on ebay and just search for multi channel u can find alot.

if u have hte money the jl is pimp, its staggered wattage so the front gets more then the rears.

good luck

Well, in answer to your question about the Sony Xm Tuner, they aren't making it anylonger.

There is some "deals" being worked out with your major brand manufactures and XM, they are working on who has the rights to make the products.

So, as of right now, Pioneer and Alpine , still make the XM tuner.

In the future, you might see a universal tuner , but that is speculation at this point.

You might want to take a look at one of these more universal tuners, which they seem to be the way of future.<ul><li><a href="http://www.crutchfield.com/i-rad1cdix/cgi-bin/prodgroup.asp?s=0&amp;cc=01&amp;g=79800&amp;est=&a mp;search=XM">XM Universal Tuners</a></li></ul>

Thanks Dixon. That's what I was beginning to speculate. So I jumped the gun on you this time and decided to get the Roady and Sony's AUX module (direct RCA instead of FM-mod) for the MP40 from Crutchfield. :-) I hope to have it installed next weekend. I am still looking for more info on 5-channel amps.

Thanks!

Default any 5-ch amp will grossly underpower a sub, IMO.

you'd do better getting a 4-ch and a separate amp for your sub.

thx for the tip! but this is really for my wife's beater car. we're not really looking for a major upgrade esp. since we'll be in the market for a newer car soon.

Good deal!
Right now it is hard to beat the Delphi Roady deal.

I'm going to pick one up myself next week. With the free in home kit, it is the deal that I have been waiting for.

Good luck!

Try a used Sony XM405EQX - if you can find one.

Mine powered (2) POLK 6.5'S, (2) polk 6x9'S AND A 12" KICKER sub with no problems.
