Where does album artwork come from in the MMI?

Where does album artwork come from in the MMI?
I have an iPod touch hooked up in my 2018 Audi A5. Sometimes it displays the wrong album art.
All my music is purchased from Apple and all has the correct album art. It displays the correct album art on the iPod, but the MMI will display something different and wrong and I have absolutely no idea where it could be coming from.
