Default Marc....get this from Jeff Bipes. I use it with my Nav+ & PhatBox..and OEM trunk changer

it works great!!

Jeff has another device that he sells for iPod audio input....but it won't work with the Nav+ because it "fakes" ou the audio.

Anyway....his device allows you to plug two OEM 13 pin devices (via the trunk 13 pin plug) to allow you to have power/audio to support:
a) OEM CD Changer & PhatBox
b) Two OEM CD Changers (not sure why anyone would want to)
c) Possibly...the OEM CD Changer and a BlitzSafe device (for aux audio XM, iPod etc).

Also worth noting, Jeff hasn't built a version that plugs into behind the HU (applicable to those with a SymphonyII HU). If he was...it would probably include an 8/9 pin input device for pins 13-20 of the 20 pin connector. Jeff and I talked about this and it becomes even more expensive for him to build it when you start adding those male/female adaptors behind HU area. For most SymII folks, pins 13-20 in the 20 pin connector (which support the CD Changer interface) are not present...which is why Audi then sells you a $100 cable if you want to add a PhatBox. Just my .02.

Jeff and I have been communicating over the past few weeks and I told him that I was interested in adding a PhatBox to my trunk (now that they are selling for $350) but I didn't want to loose my OEM CD Changer. Jeff has sold this device to another Audi owner (running a PhatBox & CD Changer) and he reported that it works great, no issues.

Therefore, I have ordered one (approx. $100) to test it in my 2001 A6 (with Nav+ running) to see if there are any issues with my Nav+ audio etc. FYI - I purchased a second CD Changer for testing purposes to see if it works. The other cool thing about Jeff is that he will refund my $$ 100% if the device doesn't work to my expectations...."so I got that going for me...which is nice (quote from CaddyShack)".

Thoughts on device after testing:
The device works, no problem. I hooked my 2nd CD changer up with this device and it worked flawlessly. The only thing that I noticed was that I needed to switch back to Radio or TV/Video mode if I wanted to toggle to the 2nd CD changer [or PhatBox]. If I toggled in mid-play of a CD...it would freezed the screen and would not allow me to change tracks/disc etc. This must be something that is specific to Nav+...because Jeff reported that it didn't happen in usage with Sym I or Sym II units. Other than that, it worked great. Based on this test, I feel very confident that it would work great when I add a CD changer.

Of course...you can get this from Jeff...and you'll need the trunk version (13 Pin) of the Bliztsafe...not the headunit version.

Good luck!

Default Marc: Jeff makes 2 or 3 different devices. This one WILL work with the Nav+...I have tested it...

with two OEM CD Changers....and one CD changer and a PhatBox.

Incidently....I just installed my PhatBox this weekend....what an awesome device. The voice prompts are key. I love it!!!!

Default Re: Marc: Jeff makes 2 or 3 different devices...

Do you know if Jeff makes or knows how to hook up to the RNS-E? I just got my B7 with the Nav unit and glove Box 6 Disc Changer. I want to add a Phatbox and a second 6 disc changer (my wife is known to scratch CD's so hands off!) so I would need a three way switch in the end. Thanks!
