Will a Symphony II+ HU (B7 MYs) work with my '00 S4 (plug and play)?

The problems are the security won't work like it does in the B6/B7, and I don't thing the RDS/CD program data would show up on the DIS, But the main incompatabilty is the anti theft home installation recognition, even after entering the correct securtiy code, the Sym II associates a VIN from the instrument cluster via CAN buss, if it can't see it's home vin then it would lock out on anti theft each time you turned it on. And I think the face plate is a little different.

thanks for the info - i'd like to have an OEM HU with text/MP3, and I know quite a few B5 S4 owners
retrofit RNS-E units in their cars, but I just hate the wonky interface and sluggish performance.

If the RNS-E can be retrofitted, then the Sym II + should retrofit also, but there...
will need to be some work arounds figured out for sure. You can try it, if it doesn't work out you can always resell the HU.
