Default Best way to remove stubborn tar from OZ SL wheels?

I have some very stubborn tar stuck on either side of where my spokes meet the barrel (plus some stubborn tar inside the barrel itself).

What have people found to be the best method of getting it off without damaging the finish on the wheels?

I tried Meguires and Mothers wheel cleaners, but they couldn't break it down. I tried a bug & tar remover, but that didn't seem to help much either.

Thanks!

Default Clay is your best bet, blue magic OTC is ok, Adams Grey clay from DD

Would be MUCH better (more aggressive, so it requires less rubbing), but the process is about the same.
