Default car care & cover ?

I picked up my 2001.5 Santorin s4 Avant about three weeks ago. Well, I have no garage and unfortunately the best (safest, etc.) place to park is under a eucalyptus tree. I am in need of exterior/paint & interior/Alcantera care advice.

Searching the archives usually yields errors or timeouts.

Already have a few swirls thanks to the dealership (not where I bought it) wash job. Should have known better... :-(

From what I've read (non-AudiWorld sources) the Evolution 4 car cover is the best for outdoor storage situations. Can anyone comment on the quality? Also, where's the best place to get one and how much should I expect to spend?

btw, I've looked at carcareonline.com, looking for the forum to back up or dispute their claims.

Thank you (experts) for helping me keep my car beautiful!

Default A cover really isn't a great idea for a daily driver.

When you put a cover on your car when it's less than perfectly clean, some of the dust, dirt and grit on the car is naturally gonna transfer onto the cover and/or get moved around on the surface of the car when the cover is going on and coming off. Long term, it'll lead to scratching. So a cover is fine for longer term storage, but for a daily driver it can end up getting rid of one set of problems while creating a whole new set.

I don't know how much space (or cash) you have, but how about a portable carport instead of a cover. If all you really need is something to shield the car from overhead debris and tree sap, then a canopy-style carport kit can be had for as little as $165 at jcwhitney.com. Just an idea.

Portable canopies and garages

Default hrm.... thanks for the advise Rick & meem

I think I'll go with the car port thingy. The lady across the way has one for her Porsche, seems to work well.
