doesn't sound unreasonable to me . . 3 days old does not equal 3 days out of the factory...

Default Cars coming to Hawaii are shipped and not all are in containers. Takes weeks to get here . . .

And then they sit in a lot somewhere for weeks or months. Then a dealer sends some low paid guy to the lot to pick the car up, and he or some other low paid guy who's never going to see the car again "prep's" it . .

No . . a clay job and full detail of a new car is not at all unreasonable IMO.

Granted, some of the surfaces are protected with various methods (film for example) but not all . .

Default I can tell you one thing for certain, he didn't put orange peel in with clay. Orange peel is caused

by manufacturers using too little color coat. Without enough paint on the car, it will not self level, but will instead try to bead up, as it has a higher affinity for itself than it does for the primer.

Default Re: why would you clay a 3 day old car? that is nonsense

I have a brand new Audi Q7 that most definitely had bonded contaminants on the rear liftgate and a few other spots. I don't believe the car was transported with one of those paper jackets that I've seen on other cars, so it definitely picked up some dirt somewhere between Bratislava and the United States that needed removal via clay bar. That's a long trip, and be assured that no one was keeping up that nice factory finish along the way. I used Zaino's products with great success. I'm sure the other products discussed on this board would also work quite well if properly applied.
