grrr! got hit by a soccer ball on the way to dinner tonight. detailing challenge tomorrow

cruising at about 25mph tonight past an area that had some kids playing soccer. moments later, a soccer ball is bouncing off my hood :-( left some hideous transfer marks from the ball, but the paint doesn't appear to be too damaged (on initial inspection). hopefully i won't find anything too awful upon closer inspection tomorrow :-/

update: paint seems mostly ok. there are a couple very short (1/4") deeper marks ...

that remain but they are invisible from most angles. i think i could get them out but at the expense of a lot of clearcoat, and i'm not sure it's worth it. in any case, it could've been a *lot* worse (especially since i almost lost control of the car while rubbernecking to find the source of the ball).

i use the deluxe sheepskin wash mitts from detailer's paradise. i have six total in use ...

each car has a set of three (top, medium, bottom). i use another mitt for the wheels, and a fifth mitt for "undercarriage" duty. i also keep a handful of mitts in reserve in case one decides to fall apart on me (though i usually cycle top -> medium, medium -> bottom, bottom -> garbage when stuff starts to get worn).

in general, i've been pretty happy with those mitts, though they do seem to become *slightly* abrasive after a lot of use.
