i accidentally left a drier sheet in with some microfiber towels. Are they useless now? TIA

No, just wash them again.
The issue with dryer sheets is they leave residue in the towels. That residue causes streaking and smearing on the paint. The residue will wash off with another wash...so get to work! :-)

Destroy all dryer sheets!
They smell too much, leave a coating on fabrics, and can affect flame resistance. When I recall that my mom used to just keep tossing new ones in the dryer without removing the old ones, and how they would form a big foam ball ..........
