Default just got a new to me '14 A8

Hi all,

I just picked a new to me 2014 A8 which is in near mint shape. There is not paint protection or anything on the vehicle and what I'm looking to do is detail it REALLY well and apply a ceramic to protect the paint.

Was wondering if someone can provide me details on steps to do BEFORE applying ceramic coating? Also, what would you all recommend as far as a ceramic coating?

YouTube tends to have folks selling whatever product they are sponsored by. I was simply looking for basics...I assume it would be something like:
  1. 2 bucket wash
  2. wash wheels
  3. clay bar
  4. apply polish
  5. apply sealant
  6. ???

i just did my 2015 SUV. Silver in color.. paint in good shape, not a lot of swirls...

1. washed...
2. striped all existing wax with 50/50 isopropyl and water
3. clayed
4. striped again with alcohol
5. i buffed with carpro essence (all in one filler for swirls and acts as a primer for carpro CQUK 3.0)
cleaned thoroughly (no alcohol) .. not if using any other combo (polish/ceramic) must do alcohol cleaning again... buffer at 4-5 for the speed..
6. two coats of CQUK3.0... 1-2 hours between coats
7. one hour after final Ceramic coat.. laid down carpro Reload
8. do not get wet at all for atleast 3 days for cure... no chemicals for 7 days..

there is is lots of instruction on YouTube..from people not trying to sell you their product....I spent hours of research before tackling something like this on my vehicle...

depending on chosen product.. instructs might be different.. do your own diligence for chosen product.
