Default Need some serious wheel cleaning advice

I have the 2001.5 17" Celebration wheels, and I'm pretty good about cleaning them & waxing them. However, it's started raining here in NorCal, and I missed a few weeks of cleaning. Now the wheels have tiny spots all over them - looks almost like surface rust (but it's not). P21s did nothing to remove it. Any suggestions for something stronger?

Default First of all did you try P21S Gel, if so I would try...

Eimann Fabrik (EF)Hi-Intensity next. Both P21S and EF are acid-free cleaners but EF is stronger. If EF doesn't work than you might want to try Eagle One A2Z Wheel Cleaner which is an acid-based cleaner. If your wheels are pitted or chipped I would not recommend the latter since an acid-based cleaner will accentuate pitting and/or chipping.

Default Tiny black spots?

If so, that's just redeposited brake pad material. It will form over time...very quicky if you have not been waxing or washing your rims. I asked about this recently, and got two suggestions.
1. Goo Gone (available at Home Depot and other home centers).
2. P21S Total Auto Wash (citrus based cleaner as well). Leave on the rim, full strength for 5 minutes, then wipe and rinse. Ted K recommended this solution for the little black spots. Total Auto Wash is available at www.carcareonline.com, or any other place selling P21S products.

I haven't tried either technique yet, so I can't tell you which works better.

Here is the thread I'm referring to...

Yep, P21s did nothing. Great for the general dirt/dust, but didn't do a thing for the spots.

Default Exactly. Tiny black spots . . .

I thought about trying goo gone, but I was just too lazy - why bother messing about with it yourself, when you can ask here

But I'll give it a go this weekend, assuming no rain.

Default in that thread, it was also suggested you use one of those..

plastic ties on bread (not twist ties). because those specs DO scrape off with a finger nail, so this person suggested using this instead of a nail. Good idea IMHO.

Which P21S product did you use??? Try 3M IHG mixed with P21S Multi Surface Finish Restorer.
