Default New Car Wax

Just picked up my 07 A64.2 in Quartz gray, and planning for first exterior detail. Car was built in June. In the olden days, it was suggested not to wax car for 90 days until paint fully cured. Owners manual states application of liquid wax ok on new car.

Trying to decide between just applying 3M Imperial Hand Glaze for now and deferring waxing for a month or two, vs my usual routine of P21S polish and wax (vs. blitz)

any suggestions welcome

Default Menzerna Full Molecular Jacket

Quite an extraordinary product. Cars glow when given the Menzerna treatment. I did a post that shows a 2001 after a full Menzerna treatment. As I note in the thread, the full treatment can require some work but the only thing you probably need right now is the top coat -- the FMJ I refer to in the subject line.

I don't think you'd want to glaze the car and then not protect it with some sort of wax/sealant. If you're not familiar with the advantages of a synthetic sealant, they are worth consideration. Six months between applications has its appeal.

Classic Motoring Accessories carries the Menzerna line and is a good site for learning about sealants vs. traditional carnuba-based waxes. Another good synthetic line to consider is Klasse. The forum sponsor, Detailer's Paradise, carries the Klasse line. The advantage of the Klass line, as I understand it without having used it, is that the All-in-one (AIO) product collapses the polishing, glazing, & sealing steps in single step. Nice, but overkill for a brand new paint job. What you want right now is to just seal it.

Congrats on the new stead (need pics!).

Default Modern finishes are cured by UV before the car leaves the factory. Right now, today, you

can put any wax or sealant you desire on your car with no adverse effects.

Default A few last notes...

FJM also has the distinct advantage of going on very easily. It can easily be applied either by and or with a PC. Buffing is a breaze.

Menzerna also makes a spray-on product known as High Gloss Acrylic Sheild. This product has the ease of use of a detailing spray but is made of the same compound as FMJ. As such, it can be used to touch up/entend the FMJ top coat after washing. It adds maybe 15 min to my wash routine with fantasic results. Will probably use once a month or so.
