P21S GePC

Just received my first shipment from properautocare.com that included P21S GePC. I have several questions in regards to it's use.
Does anybody know is it a cleaner or polish or both? How abrasive is it? How often should it be used? Is it ok on 2002 A4, red? Foam applicator Ok? Is it effective removing minor scratches? How does it compare to Meguiars Scratch X?
I also have 3M IHG, same questions?

Re: May I ask what else you bought?

Here is what I bought and most of the products were chosen based on the opinion of the people on this forum.
Griots:
Car Wash, Interior Cleaner,2 cotton dry towels, 2 sets of cotton polishing cloths, set of 6 micro fiber cloths.
Properautocare.com:
P21S GePC, Blitz wax
I allready have 3M IHG on the shelf in the garage, as well as some Meguiars products, like ScratchX, #9 Swirl Remover, Gold Class Clear Coat wax, #26 Liquid. I used mostly their products before, but I see that hardly anybody talks about it here.
I will use what is left of those on my Montero, but my baby, A4 is getting a fist class treatment.
Any advise is appreciated. I know that Griots is expensive, but I want to give it a shot. I know that I could have settled for cheaper products, but usually is what you pay is what you get.
I will start by hand and in spring will probably go to PC7424, after practicing first on some junkyard panels that I will buy first.
That is it.

P21S GEPC will clean the paint a little, and it adds a rich deep luster to the paint. It seems to fill swirls a bit, but I've used it in conjunction with P21S wax, so it may also be the wax that is filling the swirls a bit. It might have a mild chemically abrasive property to it, but no mechanical abrasives in it (it won't introduce any scratches). I would use it twice a year. If you're finickly, and like the results you get with it, use it every two months. Foam applicator is fine. It does not compare to ScratchX. Two different products. AFAIK, scratchX uses fine abrasives to remove scratches and swirls.
3M IHG - It contains fillers to hide swirls, and oils to "feed" the paint. It's not abrasive, so the swirls it hides will return in time. Doesn't really compare to scratchX for this reason. I would use IHG 2 times a year. It will clean the paint very well, preparing it for waxing. Foam applicator is fine.

If you do a 3MIHG and Blitz wax job your car will look real good. That's a new A4 you have?
??If it is the paint should be pretty good right now.
As I recall people like to do these for a real "full meal deal" :
Dawn dish soap wash
Clay bar
3M Swirl Remover
3M IHG
P21S GPEC
Wax
But this is the big job. Just a wash, 3MIHG and Blitz is all I just did to get ready for winter.
Next spring the clay and swirl remover may come out...depends on how the winter goes.

Yes, A4 is 4 months old. However I have allready put in some swirls, using Audi factory cover even though I never put it on a dusty or dirty car. Than I asked dealer if they would buf out the trunk lid because it was all scratched up from plastic opening for the licence plate. I think this guy had no clue how to use the buffer and put a lot of swirls. Anyway Audi factory cover is a history now. It wasn't a cheap one either. I guess life is a learning experiance.

I have no experience using ScratchX...but others have posted feedback.
As I said AFAIK (as far as I know) it does have some mild abrasives in it to deal with scratches, neither of the other products mentioned are abrasive...they only have filling properties, which means they will hide the swirls temporarily, but eventually, as the fillers wash/wear away, the appearance of the swirls and scratches will return. You should really do some more homework on ScratchX before you use it...I'm not the expert on that stuff.
Personally, if I have a job that requires a mild abrasive to remove the imperfection, I'll use 3M Swirl Remover. I've used it with good success, however I haven't compared it with other products, chiefly because it does the job just fine for me.
