Default pad question

Would like to find out how many here soley dedicate pads to particular polishes, and how many mix? Know that mixing is generally considered a faux pas...

For instance, if one uses, say, a polish they're just not too fond of, and it won't be used anymore, are those pads to be thrown out, or can these be cleaned & used w/ a comparable cutting power polish of another brand?

TIA!

I wash the pads throughly after every use. I'd have no issues switching products.
