Default Is there a danger to cleaning with dawn and then claying, but not waxing?

It started to rain on me suddenly yesterday, and I only got as far as dawn and clay - I'm concerned about having no wax and the paint being "unprotected" for too long. Thoughts?

Default just do a quick coat of carnuba to hold you over until you get a chance

to do the full treatment

Default With it being cold/rainy out, won't it be tricky to put a coat of carnuba on there?

Also, isn't carnuba something that should be done with the PC, not by hand?

Default A PC isn't needed for carnauba.

Many carnaubas need only a few moments to haze then can be wiped off. Even in weather down into the 40-45 degrees it just takes longer to dry. Warmer the better but it will work.

Some carnaubas literally are designed to just wipe on - wipe off without drying.

Default NA

Na, if it's going to be a week don't worry. Clay got the big contamints off so it will be ok for awhile.
There is protection on your car it's called a clear coat. It would take you a while to get damage. I did a MB over the weekend. This car has never been waxed in 3 years and it looked fine. Like a newer car not 5 yrs old.
Your cool guy!

Default yeah I agree with S4Bloom just put a little carnuba on

so you have the peace of mind you have some protection (i.e. water beading) and just wait to the temp. is right for the full treatment....

Default I wouldn't do it...

Driving with no wax will leave you clearcoat exposed to contaminents you work hard to remove in the first place..

I suggest, if you need to go more than a few hours of driving, that you throw a coat of wax on. You can wash it with Dawn when you are ready to finish the detail...

Although the clearcoat protects you paint, you want something to protect your clearcoat...
