Tips for Removing High Spots on Graphene Coating?
After I cleaned the paint with WashMist (washmist.com) waterless wash/deep plush microfiber towels and then followed by CarPro Eraser wipe down, I made the mistake a only getting the hood and driver side and rear trunk done (in 90 degree LA heat late afternoon/early evening weather) before it turned dark with the graphene coating. Used the supplied short pile microfiber for wipe off. [Love the videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHjxaRz8iiA]. I was under time pressure (and not the best lighting) so I went around the rest of entire vehicle unable to see the high spots. I had to goto dinner. In hindsight, I should have waited until I had a few hours of uninterrupted time and under optimal lighting.
When I came back 90 minutes later, I took the car to full lighting (and cooler temps ~80) and was mortified at the paint. Of course, I had left the microfiber application on the windshield and it flew off when I got onto the road. Doh!
I tried WashMist waterless wash and a clean deep plush microfiber towel, pretty much did nothing. Tried Meguairs dilute acidic wheel cleaner which helped some, but it was really, the Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Black Ceramic Polish that helped, followed by CarPro Eraser, and then WashMist. It was very tedious, but seemed like I was able to remove/correct the hood and passenger side.
However, I tried to re-apply the GP graphene coating on the driver front fender with the included white microfiber towel folder up to create a square- I started noticed light induced scratches being put into the paint. Was this from the lack of a proper applicator? Or more likely- too much pressure.
I stopped and then used CarPro Eraser and the fine scratches really started showing up. Went back to the TW black ceramic polish and seemed to fill most of them (by hand) so I think it's just an illusion and that when I use the graphene coating again with a proper microfiber applicator (order some from Chemical Guys on Amazon)..
Any tips on how to remove high spots of the graphene coating if left on too long- both paint and glass/trim?
I knew I should do something as soon as I could last night since the graphene coating hadnt fully cured. I will need to recoat the hood and passenger-side at some point and address the new marring marks that I seemed to create on the driverside front fender. I suppose I could take out the DA rotary polisher if needed, but since I'm not even sure where the pads are- trying to stick with just manual hand polishing. Any additional recommendations/tips?
Very frustrating since this was my 1st time using this product and I was mortified that my 8 day old eTron got these scratches on front driver fender put in by ME! All my previous black Audi's have been ceramic coated by myself and never caused any scratches. [Then again, I wasn't so stupid to be rushed and do it when it was so hot and getting dark].

I took the eTron to the selling dealership to see if their detailers could remove the highspotting with their DA polishers. They were not able to remove the high spots and were alarmed by how tight the waterbeads and hydrophobic nature of the surface. Since they deal with prepping vehicles for delivery, the couldn't/wouldn't do paint correction. The GM said that he did not want to get involved since if the clear coat/paint got damaged, he did not want to be liable.
I took my unopened Flex DA polisher and used Meguar's Pro M205 and M105 to see if they would remove the highspotting- it did. However, when I was inspecting the hood- I noticed that there was now- microswirls that had been induced. Other ppl looked at the paint and said it looked "fine".
Unfortunately, my OCDness does not like "fine". I reached out to a local high end detailer owner, Nic Shangle at Polished Protection (www.polishedprotection.com) and he looked at it and gave me a deal on paint correction and polishing on just the hood.
I took the perfectly polished, swirl free finish home and immediately de-dusted it and then, recoated it with GP graphene coating. To my shock- the highspotting returned immediately and there was still no way to get it to be levelled properly. I've never had such difficulty with a coating before (definitely not the easy to use that Pan the Organizer's experience). I snapped a picture and sent to Nic at Polished Protection and Tony at GP.
Tony at GP did not respond. I believe that either I got a bad bottle or that their product is very difficult to use and not the easy on, easy off product as described. Disappointed that he didn't respond after several attempts. Tried calling and connected to another person at GP, but no resolution to date.
Nic asked me to bring the eTron back to inspect. He said that the only way to fix this was to do a full 2 stage paint correction on the entire vehicle. I brought it back and it was a 7+ hour job. Very happy with the results. I will use 303 graphene as a topper.
Will not be using GP graphene coating again- and will be asking for a full refund of the product. Intense, tight water beading and highly hydrophobic, but would not level properly. Maybe bad batch- maybe product flashes too fast.
