I'm getting really irritated with Audi now...
I've driven a lot of DSGs, and tried to like them, but although technically they work well they just aren't a substitute in terms of driver involvement. The minute they stop making manuals an option, they will lose me as a customer. In fact, they may have already...I want to replace my TT with a new one, but with no 2.0T/manual/quattro, it may not be an option.
I'm really frustrated with Audi's restrictive powertrain/transmission options...I don't see how if BMW can offer so many options, Audi can't. If they are to be a serious competitor, they have to.

Never understood why they do what they do either
Another example, A3. No quattro (haldex) with the 2.0T. Though they have one now, it's only with the DSG, still don't understand why they don't provide the stick to begin with and make DSG as an option.
DSG is now being touted as something to help improve fuel efficiency. I do agree with that but it sure takes a lot of fun out of the driving IMO. Great for people who can't drive stick but for us drivers that love shifting for ourselves, it sure sucks. And us stick-shift drivers are a dying breed.
Even BMW tried to have only the SMG on their M5. Enough people complained about this to BMW where they did bring over a M5 with the manual but restrictive at best unfortunately. So I would quite say that Audi is the only one playing this game. Though Audi do have A3 2.0T quattro stick in other markets, just not here for whatever reason.

Also no manual for the A3 3.2...

Even Mercedes-Benz and Lexus have widened their manual availability!
I rented a TT 2.0T Quattro manual in Germany, and it was awesome...
(That last comment was really just an excuse to post a pic)

i would take that with a grain of salt...
they may introduce with only auto/tip but i am pretty confident they will bring manual tranny's...think back to the original A4, only 2.8 only auto and later introduced 1.8t and manual trany's
