Default I do! I hear it from customer all the time...

specially at the S5, A6, A8 level. People come in, pick up some info, test drive the car and never talk payments. Once their mind is made up, then we talk momey.
Don't think that this is how I do it. I first look at the money, if I can't afford it, why bother.

Default No, that's an emotional shopper.

A smart shopper finds the car that best fits their criteria and for most, that criteria includes cost.

Now if you were to say that the best shopper from the perspective of a salesman is one who doesn't care about cost, you would be 100% correct!

Default Except for those lucky few for whom money is no object, most people consider the money...

side of it first. Even those shoppers you mentioned probably did the math before coming to see you. They set a comfortable budget, looked at what was available within that budget, then went out to compare. "Talking money" with the salesperson is really an afterthought. There isn't that much leeway there. It shouldn't make or break a deal. The important decisions should have been made at home. That's a smart shopper.

Default Exactly! Of course all of this is done within reason...

the people that are looking at an S5 are not considering a car that's priced at twice that amount.
