Is there a difference in drive between so-called 2005.5 and 2006 A4?<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a4b7/msgs/21259.phtml">X-post</a></li></ul>

I'm sure that this was ...
a US post. We've never had 2005.5 vehicles. We have only received 2006 MY. However, the changes that the cars went through 4 months after, reflect the difference between the 2005.5 and 2006.
Other than option packages, there are no differences between the two.

And most of that was packaged options
2006 in the US basically added:
- bluetooth (bundled in the technology package I think)
- satellite radio
- S-line package
- wood trim option
Don't know if I missed a few other things, but there's definetly no structural changes no matter what that guy says.

I know that terminology was US, but in Canada, difference is an "X" in the model code
In the order guide you posted, the models are designated with an X have the new packaging, and are what the US calls a 2006.
When I bought my Avant in August, I had a choice, of an Avant built in May (old option list) or after September (new option list). Since I would have had to pay $6300 to get the few options I wanted on the X model, I opted for the non-X model and just got Premium and headlight washer for $2560.
So the US calls them "2005.5 vs 2006" and we call them "non-X vs X" model code
Anyway, my real question was about steering feel - and you have a chance to drive both non-X and X models - can you feel any difference?
There is a significant difference in steering feel between my B7 and my B6.

Servotronic Steering
The A4 comes standard with Servotronic, which provides more precise control and additional comfort and convenience when steering. Previously, this feature was only available on the S4 models. Unlike power assist, which is based on engine speed, Servotronic is speed-dependent power steering, meaning that the amount of servo assist is dictated by road speed. At low speeds, the amount of power is greatest. For example, when maneuvering into a parking space, it only takes a little steering effort. At higher speeds, an electronic sensing system gradually reduces the level of power assist, providing more direct feedback.
