He was the first to get one in Quebec, owned a B5 S4, 2 porsches and his planing one more A4 Avant for his wife... you see the profile. After 3 days of ownership, the engine blown in his driveway letting all the oil drain on his pavement. Audi gave him a 2004 A4 3.0 Avant as a loaner for the 3 month that his car was in the shop. They ordered a brand new engine directly from Germany to replace the blown one... That's crazy! Now he got it back and he loves it a lot, he say that it's more fun to drive then his Boxter S!!!

Great car but crappy luck. This isn't the first B6 S4 to blow an engine. Oops Audi!

Get him to sell it to you for half price. I mean the car had major problems, right? ;-)

Its expected - first year cars most certainly always have problems.

Haha, would be nice though! I'm curious of the insurance cost for an 18 y.o. male for an S4...

Default Not a blown engine, one of the following:

it either dropped a valve, or the front crank oil seal went. If it's the first one, then yes, a new engine was justified. If the second, a new seal is all that is needed as some were not fitted properly at the factory.

It's too bad there have been these major problems with the new S4s....
