Why is it when people come visit Toronto, they always stay in the crappiest places...?
I mean no offense Ed - if I had the space I would offer you my home 
It just always seems when people post up the "we're coming to T.O. from place 'X'..." they're always staying in some hotel close to nothing good, or in a super crappy part of town.
I love my city, so it hurts me to know they're probably going to leave here thinking Toronto is the worst place in Canada...
Kinda like when you go to Waterfest and you think NJ all looks like Englishtown!

I somehow ended up in that area a few years ago at night when there were a bunch of detours due to road construction. Stopped at a gas station to figure out where the heck I was since I lost my bearings and some other girl pulled up doing the same thing. We talked and realized we were near Jane and Finch, laughed and decided to get the hell out of there quickly!

These people vvvvv are just fear mongering. The only hotels I know
in the Jane and Finch area are right on Norfinch, which runs north/south parallel to hwy 400, which is fairly west of where any trouble usually occurs...and, by the way, is adjacent to 33 division police station. If that's where you're going, you'll be fine.
That area is probably one of the safest in the city IF you are not looking for trouble or are involved in a gang. Stay away from the parts just east of Jane on the north and south side of Finch.

I'm not too familiar with your city and would like to stay within the HWY 400.
I have a wedding close to this highway.
All I did was a search of hotels near HWY 400 and came up with whatever they listed.

There's a Super 8 Motel at Steeles & 400 in Vaughan. But really, those hotels suggested by Bruno
that are a little east of the 400 are much better.
