Remember my post about the 330HP A4...

Someone here has no concept of displacement
My 2.7 B5 S4 delivers 309 hp from a "V6" and is quite drivable. This engine is capable of over 400 hp from only 6 cylinders.
Audi's RS4 V8 delivers 420 hp with no forced induction.
The Japanese sleds are nowhere near the European cars.
300 hp from 3.5 liters unblown is no big deal these days as long as the engine uses direct injection.

HP is less important in these days of heavy cars, than torque - at low rpms. That's something
only displacement or forced induction (traditionally supercharging) can do. Audi traditionally has used long stroke engines to help offset the driveline losses involved with awd. Unfortunately, until recently, they also often chose tall autobahn biased gearing for relaxed cruising and relative fuel economy (given driveline losses), which meant they weren't the fastest out of the gate.
My F355 with 3.6 litres, puts out about 375hp. But with a short stroke motor, depends on fairly short gearing to make up for the lack of torque down low. Most Japanese cars get a tad breathless around 80mph, which is where many European cars start to wake up. Yeah, the high HP count looks good on paper, but for real world every day driving, I look at torque figures first.

A naturally aspirated 3.5 L engine gets 300 HP, and we're talking a supercharged V6 at 330 HP.
I'm not impressed. It's not bad, but it's not anything to boast about, that's all.
And you know what? GM's LS7 powerplant that makes 500 HP and delivers warranty is very impressive indeed.
Corvette still gets close to 30 mpg on the highway while being able to deliver torque that will snap your neck and run 11's in the quarter mile.
