Default Another point of view

2003 996 C2 would be after the 'facelift', so it has the 3.6L engine which is much better than the earlier 3.4L. A RMS leak is a possibility, but the internet tends to over emphasize the problem and there are a lot of 996's that never have an issue with it (supposedly around $1,000 to repair if you get the leak). The air cooled engines had/have their fair share of issues too and some are very difficult/expensive to repair.

The S version of the 996 was only available on the Carrera4, and has the same engine as the regular 996. The only difference is the turbo style exterior (and red tail strip).

A turbo with that low kms is going to cost almost twice as much, and at that price range, the 997 is a much better car to live with than the 996 turbo (unless you can make frequent use of the extra power).

Default How can it be hidden, when you guys brag about it all the time. Probably due to

insecurity, or inadequacy.

I'd go for the last of the classic 911s, a 1998. Cars in good shape are rising in value.

Default no I think all S models are more powerful. 2S is RWD and 4S is AWD. I think they are also

wide body.

Default Incorrect. S is same engine.

993 and 996 S designation only means wide body (turbo body minus air inlet and wing). '99 to '01 996C2, 996C4 come with 3.4L engine. '02 to '04 996, 996C4, 996C4S come with 3.6L engine.

997 body started in '05. 997C2, 997C4 come with 3.6L and 997C2S, 997C4S come with 3.8L engine. '09 997 all switch to direct injection, same displacement.
