Default When selling privately & U offer "all service records are available"...

Does that mean that you have the dealer stamps in the service booklet, or do buyers want you to hand over the actual invoices from all the service work done on the car, when you sell the car to them?

Or do you just let them look over the service invoices, but keep them yourself when you sell the car?

Just curious what would be expected of me... (I'm selling the car...)

People would want to see the invoices for major repairs such as timing belt, brake jobs, etc.

Thx Alex. I got no issues letting them see them, but do they want to keep copies/the originals?

Offer them a photocopy and white out your personal info.

Default The records should stay with the car, so yeah, hand'em over.

Copies should be fine and like others suggested, white out your personal info. No reason holding on to the records once the car is gone.

Yup, eliminate personal data, but leave (a copy of) records with car.

Default PS Getting an inspection done on it now. If the brakes are at 20 / 30%, does one need to discount

the selling price of the car? Just trying to figure out if wear and tear items that might not need immediate attention would impact the selling price.

Or do you only need to give a further discount if there's a mechanical repair needed that's uncovered during a vehicle inspection?

The selling price has already been negotiated with the buyer, and was subject to the results of an inspection.

Default I do all my own servicing but keep a detailed history of all work, parts & costs

Including the fuel consumption and oil changes.
Few ever argue price with that kind of record keeping.
When I sell a car everything goes with it.
