Default Chicago restaurant advice, TIA!

hey guys, any help/input greatly appreciated--

scenerio: newer to area, gonna take GF of 3 months out for fun dinner this weekend... something casual, dont want to make too big of statement, no sushi... thinking maybe something Italian

(we're 23/24 if that helps)

thanks, you guys always give me great input -- taking people to Harey Carey's/and "tourist places" all the time is getting old ; - )

Default And don't forget...

Italian? I dunno, little neighborhood joints or home cooking generally rule that category.

Try something different like Avec on Randolph. Not a place for a first date if you are looking for a quiet place for conversation, but the food and atmosphere is great if you are looking for a good overall experience. No reservations, so get there early or be prepared to wait.

Settimana Cafe (on Division - outdoor patio) or La Scarola or Bella Notte.
