Ya, I should have asked somebody about that. Live and learn, I guess. I had them set at...
...38 PSI for the first 2 sessions, then settled at 48 psi front and 46 rear after that. Steering response and grip both improved markedly with the higher pressure.
Unfortunately, the damage was already done, so even though we cross-rotated the tires Sunday morning, 1 of them is completely toasted, and another is well on its way. The other 2 are still fine.
Which brings up a question: Since I can't get SSRs anymore, what would anyone recommend that I replace teh toasted ones with?
Spartan S4 had some Nitto N01 or something that he really liked, and Shameless has Falken Azenis, which he liked too. Whatcha think?

A different point of view:
I found the Champion S4 to be everything I expected it to be. Now, it was Metzler, not Fisher, who was driving when I took my ride, but the car felt exaclty the way I expected it to: fast, planted, balanced and immediate, like a racecar.
Scrabbled for traction? A little coming out of 3, but it actually helped the car rotate, since the tail slid wide a bit.
The straightline speed was about right, considering the boost they were running (about 14psi, as compared to 20+psi in full race trim).
I must have been lucky with the heat, because there was nothing remarkable to mention on that front.
Remember, too, that they want to run this car for a LONG time, so 10/10ths running in demonstration laps just wouldn't make sense.
Pobst or Galati would have to be at the wheel to get the full effect - something that could actually happen someday - and I'll be first in line!
All in all, I thought it was a great e-ticket ride, and was really happy to have had the opportunity.

ouch! that looks bad.
I'm surprised that happened at 38 hot. I ran dunlops on my S4 at ~33-34 hot, and they were fine. At 36 cold (not sure what the hot pressure was, probably 40), they started to chunk. So that's why I told you to run lower pressures. But maybe they needed higher pressure to handle the extra weight of the A6?? I am really sorry about that. :-(
As far as replacement goes, I have the Falken Azenis RT-615 and they are excellent, super sticky street tires. The Nitto is an r-comp - I've heard good things about them as well.

Good to hear...
and good to hear you were OK with the HP+. I toasted them on my allroad at the one track event, but I tend to be hard on brakes with very late braking.... when I can trust the brakes.
