Default Translation of the commentary, via a German buddy of mine:

"Here we are, with six all-wheel drive vehicles having to prove what they are made of. This first competition is unique, in that they have to go up the ski slope, not down. The temperature, at -4 degrees (Celsius) is ideal for this event. The key will be tread and power distribution...

First the Three Series BMW. It is clear he won't get far. Though he has enough horsepower he s lacking in traction assistance and ground clearance. That's why its all over for this flatlander in a few meters.

Second, the X5. Better power distribution and great ground clearance, but he also only cooks with water and without a locking differential and off-road settings, he only ends up at the bottom of the last incline.

Third is the Lexus. Obviously worse than the BMW, but still making a valiant effort, with only the locking center differential it is lacking traction and power.

Fourth is the Volvo Cross Country. Basically not better equipped than the Lexus, but obviously the power distribution works in better harmony and thus he digs his way almost to the x5 Mark.

5. Now all hope is relying on the Off Road ace - the Nissan. But it is quickly evident that the 158 diesel horsepower are just not enough to move this 2.4 ton vehicle up the hill. Also the off road tires, even with lowered air pressure, don't have the traction of the true snow tires.

6. Already in the first few meters it is clear the Audi could get quite a ways up the hill. Providing for that is the proven All Wheel drive system. A torque differential spreads the power between front and back, and the slip control takes care of the traction between the individual wheels. That, along with the Bear strong turbo engine and highest RPM allows the Audi to achieve what no other could do. And the Audi digs its way to the top --- Unbelievable for all who are observing. It is totally evident that part one of this competition goes hands down to the King of the slopes - Audi."

quattro rulez! :-)
