My brother recently sold his RS6 and the buyer arranged for transport since he's in the Pacific NW.

I disagree that "rare" $25,000 vehicles merit closed-shipping.

Default it wasn't a $25k car, and with only 1100 imported into the us, i would consider that to be rare

but hey to each his own....

Default Ah, so we do have a difference of opinion on what constitutes rare. Whereas I don't put a price tag

on the definition of rare you apparently do.

And if you can believe it, he got more than $25K for the car. More than $30K, more than $35K. Is it "rare" enough for you yet?

It's still a daily driver, so what difference does it make if a few bugs splat on it?

Your car is far more rare, and I don't think it merits closed transport, either.

Default If you'll re-read my original comment and my reply to Turtle, I explained that the guy buying it

made a huge deal of it. This was "THE ONLY" RS6 he was looking at. He didn't want to negotiate price, he wired the money without so much as a picture other than the crappy ones my brother posted on Autotrader and he apparently has huge plans for this car. My point was that if he held the car in such high regard, why open trailer it 1700 miles? Personally I think he's an idiot for reasons other than open trailering it but hey, what do I know.

As for the whole open trailer versus closed trailer debate, we'll agree to disagree.

Default ................ Just ship it in the spring when the salt and crud is gone from the roads.

Enclosed would be nice, but I'm sure this PNW guy spent decent coin on it and wants it ASAP.

I'll guess the route:

Wisc.,
Indianapolis,
St Louis,
Memphis,
Shreveport,
Dallas,
PV AZ,
Vega$ <guy drives it to go get h00kers>
San Diego,
Sacramento,
Portland,
Gig Harbor WA?

Default That's the route my cars took to Laguna in an (gasp, the horror!) enclosed trailer. Took longer but

avoided the mess.

Default I had my new S4 shipped in a two car enclosed trailer, with one other porsche...

From Colorado to here and I didn't spend over 700. And it was here in 36 hours. If anyone wants the name of a good company send me an email!
