Default Does he not want to spend the money on another set of wheels?

If you get another set of wheels the swap between winter/summer is totally DIY and only takes about 30min max.

Since his car is RWD and he's planning on driving it in the winter, he really needs dedicated snow tires. That's what I would want if my car was rwd.
He should see if he can find another set of wheels on eBay or something or even hit TireRack and get some winter wheels with dedicated winter rubber. I think he will be much happier that way, but it will cost some extra coin. Which winter rubber on that car, even if it rwd he will get through anything.

Pirelli Nero M+S, they are a great all around tire. Great in dry and rain and very good in snow..

Default he just dropped the coin on the car/downpayment

and he didn't realize what i was trying to tell him about summer/winter tires.
i think the all season option would be the fastest/cheapest option to get him through the next few months. then next year he can buy a new set of wheels/tires strictly for winter.
i was trying to get him a set on ebay, but lost the auction at the last minute. the only other ones out there are like $1200, he'd rather spend $6-8.

Default I'm with you. I am still using the same Dunlop Graspics I got from you guys five years ago.

The car is unstoppable with real snow tires. I have gone through plenty of winters on all seasons and there is really no comparison when it comes to control and safety.
