For the most part...

not many brokerages want to give you a start with no experience, and even though i've been around boats forever, it was an uphill battle to get a job with a real company. Add to that it's a tough business to be in, especially with the current economic climate.

Well, I've always been in boating...

and worked part time for a broker in high school doing grunt work on his boats. Then I went to college for naval architecture and marine engineering. I changed majors halfway through, though. I had worked in a few parts of the insurance industry for a while, then moved back into the boating world.
