feature request/suggestion: user-user messaging
Seen this feature on a few other places (UBB/etc), which is kinda neat/useful. Basically, you can send a message to another user directly, which would then show up the next time they come to AW. Useful in place of posts like "Hey BillyBob, email me" or "ygm" etc... Maybe have some sort of icon/link show up when someone has a message in their inbox or whatever.

i think the web -> AOL / ICQ / MSN / YIM links are good
similar to what you mention, but all they require is a simple link for each IM app & pass as an argument the user's respective screenname/id for whatever IM service, so no need to build a custom private messaging app
