How about a thread legend?
I'm seeing way too many people clicking on "NT" threads. I don't think they know what "NT" means.. it follows we can assume they don't know what "OT" means (if they can't figure out what "URL" and "PIC" mean.. then the world is in trouble)
Anyway.. how about a little legend at the top of each forum page that lists the little icons and what they mean?

We're working on this, but it can be normal for views on NT marked posts
NT posts can have pictures and links, but also if you have enabled the "View entire thread" option, it'll mark every post in the thread as a view as well.
Anyway, the Forum Terms of Use has the legend in it, but it's kinda hidden away. We're working on cleaning things up a little bit

If you track a thread...
And it is replied to, you have to click on a NT message to bump it back down. Why does it matter if they click on it? People have a lot of reasons to click on NT threads.
1) Email
2) Picture Poster
3) Reply to NT message
4) Update their own NT message
5) To untrack it til an update
