I understand why you would want to resize and re-compress uploaded images, since many people don't know what they're doing and upload 1 MB jpgs that are barely compressed and 1600x1200(ughh). However, I would request that the image only be run through this conversion if the filesize is greater than a certain amount. The thing that bothers me is that if I upload a .gif that's a small logo or something, it's converted to a .jpg and looks like crap, and results in a larger file size than it was to begin with..

What do you think?
