please fix search

It's not the best search or anything, but it's easier than finagling an outside one to work for me. And also you can't just say 'use search' to newbies who are annoying to shut them up.

There are so many posts after Jan 18th, 2001 now that search is almost useless.

Like the new forum format.

Could we at least get the index re-run or whatever it is that Johannes does to bring search a little more up-to-date?
