Default Is this possible with thread tracking...?

My settings are set up to track all threads that I follow-up to, create, or actively select. Usually I'll track threads for a couple days. But if no one is responding to me or the conversation dies, I usually hit "ut" to untrack it and get it off the top of my page. However I always have this funny feeling someone will write a response to me afterwards and I won't get their message because the thread in untracked.

Is there a way to "ut" untrack a thread, and only track it if someone writes a direct response to your post? Or is the system already set up to do that? I'm not sure.

Default It's TT (track thread) not TP (track post) ...

If you select 'track thread', whether intiating a new thread or responding to another post, the system will track any other activity in that *thread* regardless of what post receives a specific reply.

What you are talking about is track *post* functionality ... which isn't an active feature. Not sure if that's something Johannes can do or not.

Default I don't know of any way to do exactly what you are asking for

With the current forum software.

Default I suppose so. You know what I'm asking, right?

A lot of times I will hand click on every individual post in "bold" so that they become "unbold" and therefore the tracked thread disappears from the top of my screen. So this way, the thread is still being tracked and it will appear on the top of my screen when a new post pops on in the thread.

I suppose my goal is to reduce the number of tracked on the top of my screen, but don't miss any important responses to any of posts. Maybe it's just too nit picky for the system to handle. But maybe not, like you mentioned, maybe an additional "TP" can be added to one of the options on each post.

Or better yet, maybe a "clear bold" button can be added to make all the posts in the thread automatically "unbold". That would sure beat hand clicking on each and every post. And the whole thread would still be tracked. I actually like this idea better.

Default Isn't that what 'up' is for (update)?

Click 'up' to update the thread as "read".

I see what you're saying, and having an option to track an individual post versus a full thread would be nice, but you can update a thread to be "read" without having to untrack it.

Default You only need to click on one bold post to "update" a thread.

You shouldn't need to click on every one. But as Rob O said, the up button is all you really need.
