Default Response post

When making a response to a post, there is no subject box to start the reply off with. (Like the KAWF design) Yet, if we have to edit that response the Title Box appears.

Can we have the title box standard in the reply screen?

That's strange. I'll look into this. Thanks!

In testing, it appears that you are not forced to enter a title when editing your post, but I agree, it's confusing. I'll see if there's any way to make the title go away if none was specified in the post.

I happen to like the quick reply a lot, so I don't think it's going to go away.

Likewise, I do not think users are REQUIRED to put a reason in for editing.

Default Eidited title

We want it to be there to begin with.
Its not there now.

But when I edited the post, then the TITLE box showed up, not in the first response. Have it there all the time.

ANd the reason is not needed, I started to use it but no longer do. I think its a holdover from other VB systems and is not needed here.

You'd rather have to put in the title on each reply? I prefer the quick reply greatly.

Kris, if you hit the New Reply button, it takes you to a page that gives you the ability to reply and to enter a title if you choose. In that case, the title is NOT a required field.

Though, I'm not sure the need. I believe in threaded mode, if you just do a one line reply in the text area it shows up as the link title for that post anyway.

If it is for making linear mode easier to read, or understand I could see that as well, but if the title is going to be so different than the current thread it is probably worth new thread anyway.

The beauty and perhaps ease of the old system was in using the title to make the first line of the response. That was the quick reply. It was limited in size so either we made the reply brief or used it to start off the reply. Either way, it helped know what to read and made it easy to post.
Kill the reason box, its not needed by the user, perhaps IB uses it as a data field for research?

No, you are forgetting the conversational nature and history of AW. The title field was not used only as the title for a reply, but as a brief reply unto itself or start off of the reply.

Or in some cases.. Threadjack...
