?? There is no quick reply. there is only the POST MESSAGE FIELD.
I use threaded mode.

That is the quick reply field. it's beautiful, because it's smart. it doesn't require you to use the title and body field.

I'm not explaining this very well, and I'm sorry, my goal is not to frustrate you.

Basically, when you CREATE a post, you are forced to use the Title, and body.

With the 'quick reply', you just type. the minimum character is 1. Once it gets to 95 (I think) your reply wraps into the 'body', and the NT is turned off.

If you don't get to 95 (or whatever it is) it's just the 'title' line, with the NT.

OR, you can select Advanced reply, which gives you more options.

Does that make sense? I need more coffee this morning.

Oh, and, IB is not up to any evil. I don't know what you've been hearing, but they aren't up to any nefarious tasks. As I stated before, the only reason they wanted to change to vb is because they own it, and they are converting all of their forums over to it.

It's not so they can track, etc.

I get it,
Visually.. as the user, and perhaps for continuity of the new system, I prefer having the title field to use as the quick reply. (old habit)

I hear ya. I'd RATHER have it logic in such a way that the title is not shown if one is editing a reply than forcing people to use title/body. Reason is, if we turn on advanced reply as default..
