Default Audi Club of Florida September Update

We have a very busy Fall already lined up, so come on out and join us for some racing, some rallying, and a farewell to the legendary Audi R8s!

9/17: Central Florida Monthly Meeting. We are having our monthly meeting this Saturday at the usual location and at the usual time. That means 2pm at Old Germany in Winter Park. For directions, please see our website.

9/30 - 10/2: Audi Club Corral at the Petit Lemans ALMS race at Road Atlanta. Join us for 3 days of great racing in Atlanta. We will be caravanning up to Atlanta to see the farewell race for the Audi R8s (dont worry, the new Audi R9 prototype racer debuts next year). To join us in the Audi Corral, please order your corral passes by visiting the Audi Club Cherokee Chapter website. Corral passes are required, and time is running out.

10/9: Audi vs. Porsche Autocross Challenge: We will be joining our friends in the Porsche club for a challenge rally at the Lake County Sheriffs Training Facility. The format will be to get out there early and get as many runs as possible. Scoring will be based on adjusted times (actual time plus cone penalties), and to try to equalize differences between cars, Porsche will be using their PAX weighted scoring system. All cars will be given a PAX factor based on hp to weight ratio, overall configuration, and modifications. The adjusted time will be multiplied by the PAX factor for the PAX score.

The date of the Challenge is confirmed as Sunday, October 9, at the Lake County Sheriffs Training Facility. Please mark your calendars. Cost is $20, and registration will close at 8:30. The Sheriff can cancel the date with short notice, so watch our website and club forum. Porsche Club will be responsible for setting up the event in the morning, and the Audi Club will taking down the cones and clean up at the end of the day. So we will need several volunteers to stay 15 minutes late to help with clean up. If you are planning on attending, please email me so I can inform the Porsche club how many spots to reserve for the club.

We need our best drivers in the club to come out and help us give the Porsche folks a run for their money! Well, there wont be any cash prizes, but we are planning on some after-hours bench racing at a pub, and losers buy first round.

10/15: Winter Park Concours de Elegance. It is October, and that means that the rubber will replace silicone in Winter Park for the fourth annual Concours d‼sup>TMElegance. For more information, see their website.

11/13: Annual Challenge Rally for charity. Fall has arrived, so it is time to battle it out yet again with our Porsche friends in our annual challenge rally. This years rally will be taking place on Sunday, November 13th. Registration starts at 10am, with breakfast served while the participants judge the cars in a variety of categories. First car out at 11:30, and there will be a reception with food and drinks available at the completion of the rally. Registration forms will be made available in the next few weeks, so watch our club website and club emails!

VIDEO DEBUT! The Audi Corral 2005 video is now online thanks to our elusive film director, John Studdard. After weeks of careful editing the video, it has finally passed with only a PG-13 rating. Go to our website and click on the Sebring Corral 2005 link.

Clear your schedules and come on out and join the club for these great events!
