S2 driving impressions....
After driving the S2 all night, the first thing I noticed was that my car now feels like a mini-van.
Power is impressive, but its the silky smoothness that really sets the car apart. 0-60 doesnt feel that special but 60-110 comes real fast. The car really comes alive at 5000+ RPM. It lacks the low RPM boost spike characteristic of a small turbo that slams you back, but once that monster (K-24?) spools, it presses you into the seat well into redline. Handling is just superb, seating is even better. The seating position felt very nice, and it reinforced my intentions to acquire OEM recaros for my car. The pedal placement is something that VAG really needs to get back to. Even my clumsy size 11 feet had no trouble heel-toeing. The brakes were easy to modulate and had a really firm feel. But I would have to say that the single most oustanding characteristic was the lack of drama the car produced at any speed. I did a few quick lane changes at speed, and it just responded. No body roll, no understeer- just pure fun. Sound dampening was another surprise. The noisy Pirelli 7000's couldnt even be heard with the windows up. Engine noise was just enough to be enjoyable. We continued our conversation at the same volume while I was attempting to put my foot through the floor. It wasnt the fastest car I have ever driven, but definitely the best all around package, especially for 1991 technogoly.
Now I understand why some of you um...more "mature" guys get all sentimental about the older Audis.

OEM Recaros = $$$
I looked into it getting the RS4 seats imported in just way too much money. Does your car have side impact airbags in the seat? That adds a lot to the import cost.

Where is that from? Thats a great deal.
I wonder what the insurance implications of swapping seats/air bags is....I know my policy says they will refuse any non-factory safety equipment.
